The Requiem auf einer Stele project

German, English and Russian readers (in any combination, regardless of accent and pronunciation) are sought to record their voices for upcoming audio-video installations to be set up in a dedicated room in Berlin, in 2013. The project is worked out within the Conversation International framework. Those who want to take part in it must record a video (or just an audio) file while reading short excerpts from the book Requiem auf einer Stele (excerpt available here). The first installation will use these media clips as stones to trace an electronic riverbed across an empty space – while the second focuses them upon a round screen, to make the whole of mankind visible through some porthole across the dark. Selected audio recordings will give voice to the river as well as recreate the mental buzz of Earth seen from afar, traveling across the empty space. A trailer of the project is visible here.

How to submit

Videos must be focused just on one’s face (or somebody’s not reading as well) or some part of it, without any restriction about the background. Each video should be uploaded on one’s YouTube/Vimeo channel for me to link it on the Project page.

Mp3 files should instead be uploaded on Soundcloud or sent via mail (128 Kbps quality at least required).

Submissions must be original. If your submission was the product of a previous collaboration, describe your contribution and give credit to your collaborators.

The three highest voted artists will receive exposure on the Requiem auf einer Stele social media channels (here and here) and a copy of the book.
